Calypso Software
Calypso’s software was developed specifically for waterjet operations. Unlike CNC machine tool controllers that have been configured for an application for which they were not designed, the software suite is fully tuned to the demands of waterjet cutting.
The system is a true multi-tasking environment. While the PC is running the machine, the operator can be preparing the next job.
Automated Programming Software
This software provides automated programming and graphic editing, eliminating the need for a programmer. Calypso provides multiple seats for office, remote and operator use.
The operator simply selects a material, thickness and cut finish from the Material Selection menu, and the software generates the program automatically, including leader insertion, toolpath (cut order) and kerf comp.
The easiest and most functional software available for waterjet cutting, the operator simply follows the toolbar buttons in order. The software automatically configures the toolbar based on what the operator is doing, which eliminates the need to remember what to do or where to find things. Upon input of a DXF or EPS file, the software automatically performs the following:
- Generates proper feedrate and corner acceleration and decelerations, ensuring good quality parts
- Eliminates any geometry or discontinuities smaller than a selected tolerance
- Inserts leaders (lead in) to all geometry
- Re-sizes any leaders where the geometry is too small for the default size
- Identifies inside and outside geometry
- Geometry automatically kerf compensates for the diameter of the waterjet
- Automatically orders proper cut path
All Calypso waterjet systems are laser mapped at the factory, and offer the best in tolerances and cutting accuracy. Added to the high quality components used in system construction, this feature provides the best in tight cutting tolerances with minimum Operator effort.
Graphic User Interface
This software provides the most powerful operator tools and system capabilities available for shape control. Simple to operate… simply follow the buttons, left to right. Automatically handles feedrates, accelerations and other motion parameters by selecting Material, Thickness and Cut Finish. This simple operator interface overlays a sophisticated mathematical cutting model for controlling machine motion. The following are just a few of the features in this software suite.
Accurate Feed Rate Calculation
Select Material, Thickness and Cut Finish. Calypso’s software makes it easy to characterize any new material, so operations are not limited by a “built in” list.
Interactive Tool Path Display
When a shape is being cut, the PC monitor displays the complete tool path. During the operation, the executed path is highlighted while a cursor ows current position.
Graphic Restart
Allows the operator to restart an interrupted program execution anywhere along the path by simple point and click operation of the cursor.
Automatic Array Nesting Generator
By just filling in the blanks, the operator can easily create a arrayed nested pattern. This feature allows easy editing to remove elements from the array, maximizing flexibility.
Automatically Expendables Tracking
Logs true time on all expendables such as nozzle, orifice, and pump seals. Based on actual “on time” rather than the pump clock.

Cost Calculator
Know what your waterjet parts really cost you!
Standard on every system, the calculator utilizes the same Feedrate Calculator that powers the system cutting software, so highly accurate run times are achieved.
The Cost Calculator is imbedded in Calypso’s automated programming software and can be run in the front office, remotely, or on the console. No prior experience running the waterjet or programming knowledge is needed. Just provide the DXF file, select the material, thickness and the desired cut finish and the Cost Calculator will automatically generate reports for:
- Internal cost to produce the part
- Generate a customer quote with the click of a button on your company letterhead
- Generate a shop Work Order
Allows the user to evaluate "what if?" scenarios with different parameters, such as machine charge rate or other user defined data.
